This book definitely exceeded my expectations. I loved everything about it, from the story itself to the believable teenage characters and the representation. 10/10, would recommend!

Schnell und gut

I’ve never been engulfed in such an all-encompassing state of distress as I was while reading chapter 14 and onwards. But at the same time, I felt so at ease, calm and content when I closed the book for the final time (which also happened to be the second time, since I devoured it in two sittings). The way in which the novel explores grief, loving, and losing is so raw and honest, something that is often lost in YA thrillers. The characters never fall flat, there is no sugarcoating of how incredibly hopeless they sometimes feel. You feel for them, due to how incredibly well developed they are and how well all of them fit neatly together in one story. Think of this as throwing We Were Liars, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Little Fires Everywhere, and Ramona Blue into one big melting pot, stirring it up, selecting the best bits, and pasting them into this novel, without having it feel like a rewritten work of all the YA out there. This feels different yet so familiar, and that is a truly admirable thing to achieve. Savannah Brown has a way with words which I will forever be utterly in love with. So yes, I really enjoyed this novel. So much so that I would almost set up a petition to make this the The Fault in Our Stars of the late 2010’s. Let’s hype this one up, pals.
