Dieses Buch ist eine atemberaubende und fesselnde Einblicke in die geheime und gefährliche Dynastie von Kim Jong-un und seine Schwester, ein wahres Meisterwerk. Die Geschichte ist unglaublich packend und man kann die Spannung kaum mehr loslassen.

The book is an interesting and an easy read, especially for the non-professional history wonk. The appendix is well organized and overall the writing style is for me one reminiscent of journalistic writing, although the author is clearly a subject matter expert. Unlike a lot of history books, it is thus not dreary, stale, or burdened with lengthy descriptions of this and that, but more or less manages to stay the course in style and content of describing the brutal and ruthless ascension of Kim Jong Un and his sister Kim Yo Yong. The author clearly has a negative opinion of the two and the regime and does not hold back about his dislike of the siblings, their mafia regime, and the North Korean GULAG or torture chamber that it is for most of its subjugated slave labor, i.e. the citizens of this ill begotten regime. The books content is thus at times quite difficult to digest. The reality described here is nothing but depressing and profoundly upsetting, as the author relentlessly describes how people are manipulated, lied to, subjugated, condemned to slow starvation, or executions, all at the whim of the siblings, the so-called new royalty of North Korea. Overall, I found it very informative and enlightening, especially with respect to the dynamics between North and South Korea, the US, and the rest of the world. The book left me with a plethora of uncomfortable questions, such as how do you liberate a people that have been born, lived and then died in virtual slavery, who are brainwashed in all aspects of their lives for generations now, and who would be unable to even understand the concept of democracy, freedom, personal right, etc.? One can only hope that this regime fails soon. When it does, there will be a whole other set of problems that the world will be burdened with probably for generations to come.
