Great martial arts opera come gritty mafia epos that touches on a lot of historical and society issues of real-world East-Asia, like colonialism and tge drug trade. At times its a bit irritating how closely some facts resemble actual history without ever truly fitting, but once youre over that the books provide a great playground of speculative fiction with a little fantasy twist. And if you absolutely dont care about any of that you can still enjoy an action packed saga covered in blood, that manages to keep its testerone-levels low enough to be read without the constant cringing that so many others force on their readers face
