Great (but not always easy) to read. A mostly philosophical (and very often witty) account on how one can see and understand history. Questlove‘s deep and unique knowledge of music (history) serves as the framework for his ideas respectively his approach to history.To provide the reader with a structure the book is coming in a chronological order stretching from 1971 (no spoiler, why it starts here) to 2001, covering each year with a specific chapter/motto and summarizing the recent past from 2002 to the present (2021) in one final chapter.If you are into music you have to discipline yourself not to put the book away after each specific music history detail/playlist/etc. and force yourself NOT to look up any details or songs. A discipline I was not always able to keep up and so to me it was not an easy and fluent read (but this is of course no sign of bad quality - quite the contrary). However, I would suggest to start with Mo Meta Blues, also filled with a lot of anecdotes but somehow a little easier to read. After that, you are even more ready to dive into this one. Still, thumbs up to Questlove, hope I will ever see him and The Roots in Europe.
