3.5/5so, I "know" Ellis from youtube, where she creates really outstanding essays. Now, I am not a book critic, I am not working with literary, I am just a dude that likes to read as well as other media.I have started books and not finished them because they were boring, I have stopped reading books that were written badly, and I have read other books multiple times and plan on giving them another read.I did not expect too much from axioms end, just because Lindsay is clever on youtube doesnt mean she must be a book writing genious. I feared that, the only reason her book ended up printed was due to her popularity on another media. To a certain degree, this is probably true. I feared that the book was bad. No, not real bad, seeing her videos, I was certain that she neither fell on her head, nor would she blatantly rip of their viewers.Yet, I remember reading quite a number of books, some more popular than others, where, I was puzzled why they managed to gain such a popularity, because, I actually found them lacking...Anyway, back to Axioms End.it is. Not bad. Not great. The writing, as far as I can tell, is okay, in some places I found it surprisingly good. Never did I think it was bad.The story was. Actually not bad. Maybe even good. It certainly was captivating. i wanted to know more, and keep reading. Which is more or less what I did. Its not entirely predictable, as a whole. some details are, at least when they are lifted a "of course..." , but all in all, not too predictable, and the story is well worth a read.In some places, I found the book to be too on the nose, and I would not have gone there, but, well, I did not write it, so there ya go... :)So, yeah. Now, I usually dont go around and tell people what I thought about the book, and in some way, I am here, because, its a book by that youtube essay girl, and maybe some other people wonder, is it good enough to read.yes, if you like scifi, it probably is.if you want to support ellis, it is.if you want a literary masterpiece, it probably is not.(and thats okay. I dont think it was ment to be)
