I was pretty stoked to hear that we’d finally get to see the great William Gibsons take on the alien franchise. But the book is simply disappointing.There were several scenes I had to read again because I was convinced I was reading a dream scene and the protagonist would wake up any moment, only to realize, no, they’re serious. These scenes differ wildly from how you’d expect the world to work, but are dropped without any kind of context or explanation, leaving the reader stranded. Story and pacing are all over the place as well and the gallery of one-dimensional characters makes reading the novel a tedious experience - even though it’s only a few pages long.
