Veteran status in the world of recorded music can imply many things: There are many performers who never quite make the big time. There are those who live off one success for years on end. There are many who gain mild recognition from time to time. Others, however, have scored continu-ally. Today's crop of teenagers would refer to most of these artists as old-timers. Naturally there are exceptions to the rule: Clyde McPhatter has proven to be a fantastic exception in this department. The songster is one of the only performers who receives equal amounts of adoration from the teenagers and adults. In addition, the hits that Clyde has piled up have been more than impressive. His popularity, which began with the rhythm and blues field, soared to 'recorded heights' in the pop field—as the rock 'n roll movement swept away the barriers built up over the years. The tunes assembled herein attest to Clyde's 'lasting power.' They are a collection of hits cut after joining the Mercury roster, and recreated to bring you hours of enjoyment. Each song is caressed with the 'from the heart' sincere styling of the R/B-Pop 'King.' The never-to-be-forgotten while-back triumphs include the rhythmic 'Money Honey', the enticing 'Sixty Minute Man', and the emotion packed beat ballad hip swinger 'Without Love'. In the recent vintage category, it's the contagious TA TA, the rockin' shuffler 'Little Bitty Pretty One', and the sizzling twister, 'Lover Please'. Clyde has not only passed the test of time (running the pulsating blues to sock-rock gamut, on the wax scene, but has also done so, with flying colors, on the personal appearance level as well.
