I was curious if we’d get answers to the unanswered questions we had. Right at the start Jewell adds in a few questions if her own, to my ever growing list of unanswered questions. But I came to the conclusion that this was purely based on the popularity of the first book. It turned out that I personally did not need the sequel. I was even mad at the end for having put up with this b***.I have to say that I was hugely disappointed. The story dragged along. I am sorry but I am not particularly interested in Lucy buying a house and going to bake sales. For a long time it went nowhere. In the end it still went nowhere. So we all get away with this? Not for what happened when they were children but with the deceiving when they were adults? Both siblings have committed murder. I understand the motives. But does it justify the deed? Yes, they got rid of two evil people but if it was so, anyone can get away with murder . I don’t call it justice. It’s madness. The first book had me guessing all the time, it made sense. This book was just boring. It didn’t seem to go anywhere for the longest time. The only character I really liked was Henry and he was basically nuts. He turned around in the end. Chicago healed him? Then I knew I lost him as well. I liked him for being the egomaniac he was. He was the only character with balls in this story. He was eccentric and mad. Yes, I liked him for that. Shame on me. All the other characters just annoyed me.I am truly sorry for what happened to them. Nobody deserves that. But Rachel? She was so not needed. The detective I had so high hopes in? Dead weight. The moment when Henry met Phin? I was expecting that he kills hin. Something dramatic. But Henry playing the Good Samaritan?? Not even the epilogue saved it.I came for a book full of controversy and I got La-La-land… welcome to the eeffing rainbow.I wasted so many hours of my life. This is one book I regret. Some questions got answered, yea, but the biggest question remains, why was this book ever written? The end was making me want to puke in my mouth… . No twists, no turns, they are all getting their welcome party to La-La-land. The epilogue did not do it for me at all. Too little, too late.
