Usage and Application

R404A is a ternary HFC mixture (R125, R143a and R134a) and was for many years the standard refrigerant in commercial refrigeration.
Areas of Application:

Commercial Refrigeration: Supermarket refrigerated display cases, showcases, freezers.

Industrial Refrigeration: Cold storage rooms, food storage, production facilities for frozen products.

Transport Refrigeration: Refrigerated trucks, trailer and container refrigeration systems.

Ice makers and various low-temperature applications.

Properties:

No ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0).

Very high GWP (~3922) → significant environmental impact.

High cooling capacity, suitable for medium and low-temperature applications.

Note: Due to its high GWP, R404A is being phased out in the EU and many other countries and replaced by alternatives such as R449A, R452A, or R407F.
Summary:R404A was primarily used in commercial, industrial, and transport refrigeration, but is now increasingly being replaced by more environmentally friendly refrigerants.
Important note on handling authorization for refrigerants:
