Various - Record Label Profiles - Jamie - Guyden Doo Wop Collection Vol.1 (CD)

1-CD with 32-page booklet, 33 tracks. Playing time approx. 80 mns. It was no surprise that Jamie Records started with a vocal group record. Situated in the heart of north Philadelphia in the mid-Fifties, it was inevitable. Our picture of Jamie has been skewed by the success of Duane Eddy and then Barbara Lynn , but from the outset until the end of the group era, Jamie issued some of the best--and until now some of the rarest--vocal group records ever to hit the streets. Here's a total of 33 tracks from the mid-Sixties (Anthony & The Sophomores ‘One Summer Night’), taking in some fabulous rarit ies along the way like the Heartbeats ' One Million Tears and the Pentagons ' I Wish On A Star . This collection provides the listener with a mere sampling of the Doo Wop goodies that await us in Jamie/Guyden's vaults. The artists are such unknowns as: The Inspirations , The Larks , Billy & The Essentials , but also groups such as The Pentagons , The Sharps , and The Five Chords some of the rarest Doo Wop recordings combined on one CD.
